The issue of social class
The Great Gatsby is one of those novels, that still until this day discusses a number of relevant issues. Fitzgerald places the action of this novel in quite a marvelous yet unfair age, the Jazz age, or how it was called back then “The roaring 20’s”. As a result, the author perfectly captures the elegance and subtlety of this era which coexists side by side with the darker aspect of it- the social class system and the unfair rules and laws it is operated by.
