Latvian Surnames in Kurzeme

I have chosen this topic because I found it interesting to get to know what kind of Latvian surnames are most popular in Kurzeme. Of course the numbers are approximate because I have used a telephone and address book as the main source and there are not all the people of Kurzeme. I have codified surnames by their adherence:
trees;
activities and professions of people, also relatives;
landscapes;
birds;
flowers, vegetables, fruit, plants;
animals;
parts of plants’, animals’ an peoples’ body;
objects and things, also buildings;
nationalities, inhabitants, places and names of places;
natural phenomena;
water bilges;
materials, substances and sorts of stones;
seasons, months, feasts and religion;
food;
insects;
adjectives;
fish;
clothes
I was surprised when I found many interesting surnames that I have not heard before.
When I began to write the work I thought that there will not be a variety of Latvian surnames, but I had mistaken. At the end it turned out that I have explored more than 14,000 Latvian surnames. 20 the most popular surnames are written in tables and there is also written how much of them are in every region of Kurzeme. I only have to mention that letters K, L, S, T, V stands for regions Kuldiga, Liepaja, Saldus, Talsi and Ventspils. …
