When it comes to describing Latvia the country is a democratic parliamentary republic with the current president Andris Bērziņš. The Constitution of Latvia is a codified constitution and currently consists of 116 articles arranged in eight chapters; it establishes five government bodies - the Saeima, the President, the Cabinet, the Courts and the State Audit Office. The Saeima which is the name of Latvia’s parliament is a unicameral parliament consisting of 100 members who are elected by proportional representation. Furthermore, even the administration of Latvia is essentially different: the country is divided into 110 municipalities and 9 biggest cities . Having described the political situation in both countries it is hard to compare Latvia and Great Britain as their governing models are substantially different.
Altogether after analyzing all these aspects of both physical and human geography, the two countries Latvia and Great Britain, which geographically are not that distant, nevertheless have much more differentiating aspects comparing to those few characteristics that they have in common, even those are mainly based on the fact that the two countries are located in the temperate climate zone and some demographical correspondences. Although generally the United Kingdom surpasses Latvia in several aspects, fields like environmental issues and overpopulation favor Latvia. Therefore I would like to conclude that it would not be fair to say that either the United Kingdom or Latvia is better or worse, but it is certainly just to state that from the geographical point of view the two are essentially different countries.
