It seems that in today’s world everything is product that can be sold and bought – people as well. In a way contemporary world has moved centuries back into slavery when people really were commodity. Profit and money is what makes the world turn around and companies are ready to do almost anything to satisfy their shareholders, but what about the people?
More increasingly responsible companies do try to show that they care about the people working for them, because it is a matter of reputation, but on the other hand people are “exploited for the benefit of company” as Roger Byrne points that out.
Knowledge capital and knowledge sharing are two things that are important to every company and employer. Knowledge capital alone cannot do much, as not being expressed and shared it stays with the individuals that possess it and do not bring any good to company. On the other hand individual possessing knowledge needs to be encouraged to share the knowledge. Firstly, employees need to understand and accept the goals of the company, only then they can truly be a part of mechanism that works to achieve a common goal. As pointed out by Byrne there are two ways of communication in the organization – formal and informal. Both of them can be used to encourage information and knowledge sharing in the organization. In fact, formal and informal communication should be combined in order to make communication more effective and achieve the result faster. …
