Summary
I have read an article by Patrick Bertanga, which is called “How does a GPS tracking system work?”. The main idea of the article is to introduce the reader with the concept of GPS and possible uses of GPS tracking systems.
At the beginning the author gives facts about Global Positioning System (GPS) and its origins. He describes the satellite system which makes GPS tracking possible. The author also introduces the reader with the basic concept of radio wave transmission. After that he points out that there are two types of GPS tracking. The author mentions pros and cons of both of these types, as well as where each of these Global Positioning System tracking types are used. Then he emphasizes the fact that mobile phones can be tracked even without the usage of GPS tracking systems. The author goes on to tell about the types of GSM localization systems and their benefits and limitations. Finally the author emphasizes the importance of GPS systems.
In conclusion I would like to point out that GPS tracking systems are very useful for such institutions as police and banks. However, I do believe that there are a lot of privacy and security issues, since the GPS tracking civilians use is always a 2-Way tracking.
