The purpose of the text.
The author’s intention is to inform the reader about the possible advantages that could be derived from reading good books. He or she introduces the reader with some new books on business literature and gives their assessment on them. As to the assessment, the author expresses their personal attitude rather than giving detached view on the topic.
Text style.
The text style is narrative and it is written in literary colloquial language with emphasis on verbs, mainly phrasal verbs, like set up, hunch over, put aside, aim at, turn to, etc. In this comparatively short article the author manages to touch upon several themes and not only weigh up recently published books but also appraise classical literature in modern context. From this may be drawn a conclusion that the author intends to give the reader a short insight in the topic and therefore uses means of expression that shows dynamical course of events.…
