Evaluation:
In general the method and apparatus worked well. However, there were some faults which were not stated in the original plan.
1. As the experiment was done in a quick manner, mistakes with recording the data might have been made.
2. To compensate for the fact that the emf of a battery is not actually constant, the experiment was done in a quick manner so as to not deplete the battery. However, it could not be done with optimal speed (faster) because of the fact that the results had to be measured – the experiment slowed down each time.
Suggested Improvements:
The investigation could have yielded more accurate results if the following modifications were made in future:
1. To deal with the first problem, multimeters that record data automatically might have been used. The data then would be put on a computer program that illustrates the relationship between voltage and current graphically.
2. To deal with the second problem, again digital multimeters could be used to record the data automatically while the resistance of the rheostat is changed without any pauses.…
