European Union Social Policy on Context” book published 2002 by Palgrave chapter “One Money, One Muddle: Social Policy and the Euro” has divided in 6 sections – Integration: Economic, Social and Political; Understanding Economic Integration; Winners and Losers from the Single Market; The Social Consequences of EMU; Does a European Social Policy Imply a Larger Budget?, and The Future is Federal?

Author first looks on economic and political integration development from establishment of the EC time to signing the Maastricht Treaty; and brings the citizens’ attitude to the EU by depicting the voters assent until the late 1980s as tacit assent and after ratification of the Maastricht Treaty not anymore as obvious.
