I choose to examine journals International Review for the Sociology of Sport (IRSS) (from March 2005 till latest issue in March 2011) and Sport in Society: Cultures, Commerce, Media, Politics (SS) (from beginning of 2005 till 3rd issue in 2011).
Both journals in their aims and scope write that these are interdisciplinary journals including themes as sport and sociology, but as for International Review for the Sociology of Sport, it is decelerated as more academic journal as it is official publication of the International Sociology of Sport Association (ISSA).
In SS with 10 issues per year there is at least one article about gender in sports contest almost in every second issue. In the IRSS there are articles about gender and sport in almost every issue and particular theme articles frequency in both journals is almost the same keeping in mind fact that IRSS is published quarterly per year. …
