The text raises the issue of obsession with appearance and emotional instability, that normally interferes with life. Dorian Gray, the protagonist of the novel, was bound to his appearance very tightly and could not live without thinking of it. That raised emotional instability and nowadays, it can be noticeable in modern society as well.
Firstly, the problem of obsession and emotional instability exist in modern world due to social media. The conception of media such as Instagram or Facebook is based on the person’s appearance.
