Suppose everyone has one or another time caught himself thinking how clumsy and unaesthetic are most of the writings on the walls of houses, usually on freshly painted or renovated ones. These, mainly mysterious signatures, can hardly be called an art and that is one of the reasons why the movement of graffiti is subtitled under anti social behavior. Unfortunately this issue is the most visible part of the many-sided term ‘graffiti’.
This essay puts forward three aspects of this controversial issue ‘graffiti’, meaning, graffiti as an art, as an urban communication, and as an anti-social behavior.
