Eliza’s character is intelligent and charming woman; actually, she is hardly old to be called women. Colonel Pickering comes into the Eliza’s life when he said that he would pay for the experiment. Professor Higgins is lumpish, careless broiler, and the reader can see sexual domination coming out of him, when the same time Pickering is always sensitive and a genuinely gentleman. While Higgins only manages to teach Eliza pronunciations, it is Pickering’s thoughtful treatment towards Eliza that teaches her to respect herself. He tried to stand up for her, “Come, Higgins! You know what I mean. If I am to be in this business, I shall feel responsible for that girl. I hope it is understood that no advantage is to be taken of her position.” (38).
