CONCLUSION
Gattaca is a strong film with many thematic elements contributing to a wonderful film going experience. The questions it raises are both poignant and meaningful but not so far from reach as to be meaningless to a general audience. There is also the element of a morality tale that is an accessible format for the masses but allows the intellectual elite to discuss it at length and not feel that it is drawn to a simple conclusion. The human element so strongly adds to the story that it is almost unthinkable to not include this movie amongst the most provocative movies of the century. Its requirement for discussion afterward has helped shape our perceptions of genetic engineering and of the biological sciences in general. This ability is rare in film; those that have it are considered classics. Gattaca has the ability to alter the state of mind of any person who views it with even a passing interest. Its true genius lies in that it forces you to talk about what it meant. One cannot just sit back, watch, and not be moved to speak.
