Everyday the earth gets a little bit warmer. Everyday the ozone layer gets a little bit thinner. Gradually the combination of these two events spells out disaster for mankind. Now, people will want to know why all this happens. They want to know why the earth is getting to be an unsafe place where one can no longer even go out side without thinking about the possible cancer risks. They want to know why if they live in Arizona they could in time have ocean front property on the Pacific Ocean. The answers to all these questions and more lies in what people have been doing since the industrial revolution. Since that time people and companies have been putting millions of tons of particulates and gaseous emissions into the atmosphere without ever so much as thinking about it twice (Powers 11). Unfortunately, the field of science often has to work slowly, and so it has taken us this long to realize what it is that all those emissions have been doing up there in the atmosphere. The fact remains that all those years of letting the smoke from factories and plants from all over America drift off into the air with no worries has backfired greatly on the world. Emissions let off in that time have attributed to large scale and unnatural global warming (Powers 11). Those same emissions have slowly been wearing away at our protective barrier against the sun's harmful light rays (the ozone layer).…
