Stephenie Meyer is an American author, known for her vampire romance series ‘Twilight’. Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in English. She was a usual stay-at-home mother of three young sons, until her life dramatically changed on June 2, 2003. She woke up from a dream featuring seemingly real characters that she could not get out of her head. The dream was so vivid that she absolutely had to write it down. Then she kept on writing. She wrote the entire story of the young woman and the vampire from start to finish. That story became a young-adult novel called ‘Twilight’, and she followed it up with three sequels, ‘New Moon’, ‘Eclipse’ and ‘Breaking Dawn’.
‘Twilight’ was published in 2005 with a print run of 75,000 copies. It debuted at #5 on the ‘New York Times’ Best Seller list within a month of its release, and later peaked at #1. Foreign rights to the novel were sold to over 26 countries. Later, the book went on to become the biggest selling book of 2008. A film adaptation of ‘Twilight’ was released in 2008. It was a commercial success, grossing more than $382 million worldwide.
