As Chairman, Chief Software Architect, and one of the founders of Microsoft, Bill Gates made himself the wealthiest person in the world; in 1998, Bill was worth over $100 billion (Mr. Gates is currently valued at nearly forty-one billion). Born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Bill attended public school until he went to the prestigious, selective Lakeside School. His dad, an attorney, and his mom a schoolteacher at University of Washington Regents gave him a relatively normal upbringing, economically. After doing exceptional in school due to his natural talent in all academic subjects, especially math, he made his parents proud by going to Harvard University. While at Harvard, Gates developed a version of the programming language BASIC for the first microcomputer, the MITS Altair. Bill's first company was with whom he would later start Microsoft with, Paul Allen. They called it Traf-O-Data, which was a program he made that monitored traffic for cities. Total profits for Traf-O-Data totaled to around twenty thousand dollars.
