The American Medical Association (AMA) foundation is an organization founded in 1847 to help advance health care though support of education, research, and service programs at home and abroad. The foundation helps advance medical education though grants, scholarships, and all other types of funds and donations provided by supporters all over. It is though these funds that help medical students, educators and retired physicians advance well into the future. Besides founding grants for medical students and educators, AMA also develops and promotes the standers in medical practice, research, and education, strong advocacy agenda on behalf of patients and physicians, and the commitment to providing timely information on matters important to the health of America. "The AMA strives to serve as the voice of the American medical profession. Being that voice is our mission".
