Affirmative - Yes there is little difference between brainwashing and advertising because its quick, catchy and repetitive characteristics at the very least allow it to attract or lure the attention of the general audience. The point in advertising is to inform people about your product or service and to make them have a desire to use the product/service you are advertising. Advertising is very much the same as brainwashing as it changes our attitudes and what we believe about certain products and services.
