Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. Although she was born in Brooklyn, she was raised in Detroit, Michigan. She started her singing career at the age of 15 with her freshman album, "Age Ain't Nothing' But A Number", with top singles such as "Back and Forth" and "At Your Best (You Are Loved)".
